Paul Mancuso, his father and brother Steven, have been arrested for illegal asbestos removal and brother Ronald was arrested and pleaded guilty to dumping asbestos along the roadsides in New York and various other charges. This is not the first time that Mancuso has been arrested for removing asbestos illegally. He was arrested in 2004 for insurance fraud relating to his asbestos abatement company. Now Mancuso is facing up to fifty-five years in prison and over two millions dollars in fines.

Mancuso’s prior arrest and conviction required him to stop doing any asbestos abatement work. The family is charged because they continually tried to hide Paul Mancuso’s role in the asbestos abatement work as well as for illegal dumping and violations of the Superfund Act and the Clean Air Act. The Mancuso’s are also charged with conspiracy to default the United States and mail fraud.

Steve Mancuso is an attorney that is said to have made fraudulent documents for the family business to show that they were doing everything legally. Steve faces up to five years in prison for his part in the illegal asbestos removal. Ronald is facing up to three years for his role in the illegal asbestos removal and illegal dumping.

“It is people like this with little regard for the health of others that people breath and inhale asbestos fibers when they become airborne. The prison sentences do not compare to the death sentence that people receive if they inhale the asbestos fibers and develop mesothelioma cancer.”
