You might not know that the piping that brings water into your home or building may be asbestos cement piping. No one has been able to say for sure if this is a health hazard or not. The piping was used before PVC piping became available about twenty or so years ago. However, it is possible that there are miles of asbestos cement piping running through your city. Is it bringing water into your home or building?

Water that was tested by the Department of Health and Human Services said that they did a survey of five hundred and thirty-eight cities and the results were alarming. Sixty-five percent of the cities tested had asbestos in the water and nine percent had some levels that warranted a health risk. This is alarming when you think about this report only being done in a fraction of the cities in the United States.

The sad thing about this issue is that no one can agree as to how safe or unsafe the asbestos water piping is on your health. This would be a good time to start seeking asbestos legal advice. You need to know if your city is still using asbestos water piping and if they are, your water needs to be tested. Although authorities stay asbestos must be inhaled to cause concern, no one has ever had to deal with asbestos in the water as a health concern that could lead to mesothelioma cancer.

Contact any asbestos attorneys and find out what you should do to have your water tested or find out if your city is still using asbestos water piping. The asbestos abatement could be quite costly for any community where asbestos water piping is found.
