Asbestos In The News
Woman Sues Ford Motor Corporation
A woman that developed mesothelioma and was diagnosed in 2007, has sued Ford Motor Corporation for $3.6 million dollars claiming that she was exposed to asbestos by second hand contact. Lynda Daly worked for a Wisconsin Ford dealership in the 1970’s and her husband, Michael Daly did brake jobs at his home and has no complications from the asbestos. Daly is claiming the asbestos from brake pads at the Ford dealership caused her to inhale asbestos fibers, but the Ford Company will more than likely be appealing because her husband did brake jobs at their home and has no signs of mesothelioma cancer. It only took a jury six hours to return the verdict.
Canada Continues To Mine Asbestos
Canada continues to mine asbestos for export to developing countries and these countries will accept the hazardous material. However, Calgary has banned asbestos from being used in the materials they use to fix potholes in the roads that the Canadians drive on every day. The Canadian government still has not released their report of the dangers of asbestos, but they must know the dangers if they are banning it from being used on their own streets.
Missouri Couple Sues 86 Defendants In Asbestos Lawsuit
Barbara and Joseph Motroni filed a lawsuit against 86 corporations claiming that Joseph developed mesothelioma cancer after he was exposed to asbestos. The lawsuit was filed with an Illinois court on October 20, 2008. Motroni was diagnosed with lung cancer on June 11, 2008. Motroni worked at various jobs throughout his life and the couple believes that he was exposed to asbestos in the course of his work. Motroni never did any asbestos removal. He worked as a laborer for the railroad and as an insulation installer.
Asbestos legal advice is needed as soon as you are exposed to asbestos. Many asbestos attorneys will see that you are monitored by a doctor to see if you develop mesothelioma cancer, which can take as long as twenty to fifty years after exposure.
