Fake Asbestos Training Certificates

Albania DeLeon was arrested for five counts of mail fraud, sixteen counts of falsifying payroll tax returns, five counts of giving false statements and one count of conspiracy in Andover. The 39-year old woman was convicted of al counts and will be sentenced in February.

From 2001 to 2006, she was selling illegal immigrants fake safety training certificates that turned around and did asbestos removal. DeLeon was the operator of a training school that offered asbestos training and certifications. She also operated an employment agency. The DA estimated that DeLeon certified anywhere from sixty-five to eighty percent of the people in her training course that had no training at all.

The sad thing about this story is that not only did she put the lives of the illegal immigrants in danger, she put everyone in danger. These workers were not trained in the proper way to do asbestos abatement or disposal. Although she faces up to life in prison, anyone exposed to asbestos when these workers did the asbestos removal or anyone near the disposal site can receive a death sentence.
